Gastrointestinal conditions
Dysbiosis
Our gut is full of different beneficial bacterias (microbiota). When one of these bacterial colonies is out of balance, it can lead to dysbiosis. Dysbiosis typically occurs when the bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines) become unbalanced. It can triggered different type of symptoms, such as upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, bloating.
SIBO
SIBO commonly results when a circumstance slows the passage of food and waste products in the digestive tract, creating a breeding ground for bacteria. The excess bacteria often cause diarrhea and may cause weight loss and malnutrition.
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in the small intestine — particularly types of bacteria not commonly found in that part of the digestive tract.
Irritable bowel syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common functional gastrointestinal disorders. It is a heterogeneous disorder with multifactorial factors. Recent studies have demonstrated that an imbalance in gut bacterial communities/microbiome, or “dysbiosis”, may be a contributor to the pathophysiology of IBS. There is evidence to suggest that gut dysbiosis may lead to activation of the gut immune system with downstream effects on a variety of other factors of potential relevance to the IBS.
Inflammatory bowel disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic immune-mediated disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract. There are 2 subtypes: ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease. IBD is thought to develop as a result of interactions between environmental, microbial, and immune-mediated factors in a genetically susceptible host.
